Beyond binary voices is a site showcasing writings and reflections on being genderqueer.
We open this site with a number of articles from a genderqueer therapist about their gender identity journey.
In the first article, “Desperately Seeking Susan”, they talk about when they were growing up and the confusion of feeling different from the boys around them – and at a time when the internet had not yet been conceived.
In the second article, “Tonight Matthew, I’m Going To Be ..”, they talk about their experiences over the last five or six years of revisiting their gender identity and their journey of self-identification of being genderqueer femme and coming out in all areas of their life and work.
In a third article, “Hide the Toffee Crisps”, they share some of their fears about coming out as genderqueer, some of the challenges they met along the way and the importance of community.
In two further articles to come, they talk more briefly about their sexuality journey and about being genderqueer.
The site was created and is maintained by Dee.
